At Sankofa Community Strategists, we combine our insights and skills with relevant research, and stakeholder input to tailor services and resources to the communities they are in. We’re proud to assist with capacity building needs that help to create structural change.

Under the Acacia

Community Conversations

Under the Acacia (UTA) Is a series of targeted community conversations intended to activate BIPOC residents of the State of Arkansas to define community issues on their own terms, while also leading efforts to research and propose solutions to area-specific issues. During these events participants will:

  • Hear from an intergenerational panel of community members offering different perspectives on community relations.

  • Engage in small group discussions to identify issues, highlight sources, and propose solutions or interventions.

  • Participate in a survey collecting data on needs, strengths, and resources identified within their homes, schools, and communities.

Ubuntu

I Am, Because You Are

Ubuntu is a community building program that aims to bridge the gap between individual and collective healing. Through the examination of film, literature, and visual art, participants will learn to use their personal narratives to become agents of social change. Benefits o this program include:

  • Increased self awareness

  • Fostering of community connections & relationships

  • Introduction to critical frameworks

  • Introduction to culturally responsive research methods

What's the Issue

Community Education Summits

What's the Issue is a community education initiative intended to bring together experts and Arkansas residents to strategize ways to advance racial equity in the areas of health, education, and economic development. During these events, participants will work together to propose solutions to critical issues resulting from structural inequality in communities of color.
